How to find an SPSS Lock Code

Solution

A lock-code is a code that ties the software product to an authorization code via a dynamic license code. This code was designed to uniquely identify users.

The method for acquiring the lock code for a product installation varies by the product and operating system.


Windows

  1. Open the Start menu
  2. Click Programs (or All Programs)
  3. Select the program folder corresponding to the product (example: 'IBM SPSS Statistics')
  4. Launch the License Authorization Wizard (example: 'IBM SPSS Statistics 26 License Authorization Wizard')
  5. Click Next
  6. In the lower left section of this window, look for Lock Code for this machine is
    • It should look like 4-224EF1 or 10-3FF50 or similar
  7. Afterward, you can exit the wizard by clicking Cancel, then Yes

macOS

  1. Open Finder and go to the Applications folder
  2. Open the IBM SPSS Statistics folder, then Resources > Activation
  3. Double-click the LicenseWizard program to launch
  4. You should see Lock Code for this machine is in the middle of the window
    • It should look like 4-224EF1 or 10-3ff50 or similar
  5. Afterward, you can exit the wizard by clicking Cancel, then Yes
  6. You may have a Terminal window left open, which you may safely exit
