A lock-code is a code that ties the software product to an authorization code via a dynamic license code. This code was designed to uniquely identify users.
The method for acquiring the lock code for a product installation varies by the product and operating system.
Windows
- Open the Start menu
- Click Programs (or All Programs)
- Select the program folder corresponding to the product (example: 'IBM SPSS Statistics')
- Launch the License Authorization Wizard (example: 'IBM SPSS Statistics 26 License Authorization Wizard')
- Click Next
- In the lower left section of this window, look for Lock Code for this machine is
- It should look like 4-224EF1 or 10-3FF50 or similar
- Afterward, you can exit the wizard by clicking Cancel, then Yes
macOS
- Open Finder and go to the Applications folder
- Open the IBM SPSS Statistics folder, then Resources > Activation
- Double-click the LicenseWizard program to launch
- You should see Lock Code for this machine is in the middle of the window
- It should look like 4-224EF1 or 10-3ff50 or similar
- Afterward, you can exit the wizard by clicking Cancel, then Yes
- You may have a Terminal window left open, which you may safely exit
