Symptoms
After trying to log in to the Cisco Secure Client VPN, you receive the error "Connect capability is unavailable because the VPN service is unavailable"
Environment
Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client
macOS 13 +
Solution
Uninstall and Reinstall
- Uninstall the Cisco Secure Client from the device
- Restart the Mac
- Reinstall the Cisco Secure Client
Enable Cisco Login Items
- Open System Settings.
- Navigate to General.
- Select Login Items and enable the three Cisco items.

Run the following commands in the Terminal app
- Using Spotlight Search, type "Terminal" to find that app.
- It can also be located in Applications > Utilities.
sudo cp /opt/cisco/secureclient/bin/Cisco\ Secure\ Client\ -\ AnyConnect\ VPN\ Service.app/Contents/Resources/com.cisco.secureclient.vpnagentd.plist /Library/LaunchDaemons/ sudo launchctl bootstrap system /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.cisco.secureclient.vpnagentd.plist If prompted about blocked actions, click Open System Settings and Allow to allow the CiscoVPN to install the necessary network settings. Then restart the Cisco VPN, and connect.
