Media Support Services (MSS) offers a professional event livestreaming service tailored for faculty and staff. This service utilizes Kaltura, allowing high-quality broadcasting either from a campus studio or on-location, provided internet access is adequate. MSS can handle all audio and video streaming services, ensuring your event reaches audiences in real time on desktops, tablets, or mobile phones. There is a fee involved, typically charged per hour and per production staff.

Zoom can be used as an alternative to traditional streaming, at least in situations where viewership is not expected to exceed 300. This option works well for lectures, panel discussions, or town halls and allows direct interaction with remote participants through chat, Q&A, and screen sharing. Zoom can be integrated with Kaltura to record the session and host it afterward on VCU’s platform. To get started, users should set up a Zoom meeting using their VCU-provided account and share the link with attendees ahead of time. For larger events, users may consider purchasing a Zoom webinar license to accommodate 500 or more participants and exercise greater control over audience participation and branding elements. In addition, Zoom meetings can be live streamed to YouTube, Facebook or Twitch by users with accounts on those platforms. During a meeting, click on "More" and "Live Streaming" to see your options.
