Solution

A course in Canvas will remain on the Dashboard for faculty and students while the term is active by default. Courses will automatically archive after a certain period, but it can be confusing to see previous semesters on your Canvas Dashboard in the interim. You cannot delete your courses, but you can hide any course from your Dashboard.

Below are the steps to hide previous semesters until they are systematically removed:

  1. From the Global Navigation panel (the main panel on the left), select Courses and All Courses

  2. Click on the star next to the course you want to hide during the period before the course is archived.

  3. Your Canvas Dashboard will now show only the starred courses

NOTE: Empty star = course is hidden on your dashboard; Filled star = course appears on your dashboard

Additional Information

If your course is still not showing under All Courses, check your eServices and make sure you are enrolled in the course and note when the course begins; some courses begin later in the semester.
