Repeated sign-in request notifications for Google Drive and Docs on their @alumni.vcu.edu account

Summary

Customer reports that they keep getting notifications on their mobile phone that there is a sign-in request for the Google Drive and Docs apps.

Symptoms

Notifications continuously appear for the Google Drive and Google Docs mobile apps.

Environment

  • Android 14

Solution

Remove the alumni account from the mobile device using these steps:

  1. Go under Android Settings
  2. Find "Passwords & Accounts" and tap on that option.
    • Some Android devices may have this setting labeled as "Users & accounts" or just "Accounts" 
  3. Locate the @alumni.vcu.edu account in the list of accounts and tap on it.
  4. Choose the option to "Remove account"

Then re-add the @alumni.vcu.edu account using these steps:

  1. Go to your device’s Settings, then select “Accounts” or “Users & accounts.”
    • You may need to select the “Personal” section first, then “Accounts” on some devices.
  2. Select “Add account” then select “Google”
  3. In the "Email or phone" field, enter your @alumni.vcu.edu email address.
  4. Select Next.
  5. Enter the password associated with your alumni account. Complete 2-Factor Authentication if prompted.
  6. Select "I Agree" on the Terms of Service page.

Outcome

Repeated notifications for sign-in requests will stop.
