Summary

If you reset your eID password while off campus, then try to log into your VCU-owned computer, the new password may not work. Use these steps to sync the new password.

Environment

Windows

Off-Campus

Non-VCU Network

Active Directory

Solution

NOTE: This may not be relevant to devices that are running Zscaler as those devices are actively syncing with Active Directory.

  • If you know your old eID password, you can sync the new eID password with Active Directory by doing the following:
    1. Log into the computer with your eID and your old eID password.
    2. Connect to Zscaler using the new password.
    3. Press the CTRL +ALT+DEL keys at the same time.
    4. Select the 'Lock" option and log in using the NEW password.
  • If you do not know your old eID password, you will need to come to campus and connect the laptop to an ethernet connection (wired connection) to log into the computer with the new eID password.
